Procedures for the Processing of Applications for a Broadcasting Service License
Step 1: Interested person/s can download an Application Form for a Broadcasting Service Licence (Television/Cable or Radio) from the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority’s (GNBA) Website, gnba.gov.gy, or by visiting its Office, located at Lot 18, Lamaha Street, Georgetown, Guyana to uplift the same.
Step 2: If clarity is needed before the submission of an application, the applicant can contact the IT/Licensing Manager (Arifa Persaud on 223-5007 | 6086436 or by email: it@gnba.gov.gy) or visit the office at the above address.
Step 3: Completed application forms, including all the required documents (be guided by checklist/Requirements when applying for a licence, http://gnba.gov HYPERLINK “http://gnba.gov.gy/licensing/”.gy/licensing/), must be submitted in person to the GNBA. The application processing fee needs to be paid at this time also. The fees are listed at http://gnba.gov.gy/licensing/. Payments are to be made to the Accounts Department of the GNBA after the Licencing Manager review that all required documents are submitted.
Ensure that all required documents (as outlined in the checklist/Requirements when applying for a licence http://gnba.gov.gy/licensing/) are submitted together with your application form. Incomplete application forms and those with missing documents would not be processed unless and until the deficiencies are addressed. Kindly note also, that non-payment of the application processing fee will result in the application not being processed.
If more information is required during processing, the applicant would be contacted to provide same.
Step 4: At the appropriate time in the process, the applicant would be contacted to meet with GNBA/Board to discuss the application. If radio spectrum is also required to facilitate the broadcast service, the Telecommunications Agency (TA) may also need to meet with the applicant (Confirm this with the TA).
Step 5: Once approval has been given for a Broadcast Station licence to be granted (the applicant would be notified). The GNBA and the TA (in cases where radio spectrum is required) would dispatch Invoice(s), which must be paid in full, before the appropriate licence(s) are prepared and issued.
