Prime Minister Phillips assures GCCI members
PRIME MINISTER, Mark Phillips, has expressed the government’s commitment to continue working towards the liberalisation of the telecommunications sector which will lead to the overall economic and social development of Guyana.
The prime minister made this commitment during a courtesy call by executive members of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) at the Office of the Prime Minister, Colgrain House, Georgetown on Thursday.
The need for speedy liberalisation of the telecommunications sector was among the main interests raised by attendees at the meeting. The GCCI also expressed its commitment to continue its contributions to the work of the Civil Defence Commission’s COVID-19 emergency response efforts.
Prime Minister Phillips welcomed this gesture and encouraged that the private sector also extends its assistance in this regard to vulnerable people in the hinterland while also contributing to raising awareness among citizens about how they can protect themselves against the Novel Coronavirus.
Present at the meeting were President of the GCCI, Mr. Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer; Vice-President, Timothy Tucker and other executive members: Anjie Lambert, Kester Hutson, Ambika Ramraj and Eusi Evelyn.
