Mashramani Season Broadcast Advisory
As Guyana celebrates Mashramani, the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority (GNBA) reminds all broadcasters of their obligations under the Broadcasting Act 2011 and the Guidelines for Broadcasters to ensure that content aired is responsible, appropriate, and not harmful, particularly to children under eighteen (18).
Broadcasters are urged to exercise strong editorial responsibility and to operate in the public interest at all times. Special attention must be given to the protection of minors during prime-time hours (06:00 hrs – 22:00 hrs). Content containing references to alcohol or other adult themes must use clear and appropriate disclaimers where permitted.
Music and entertainment programming containing explicit alcohol or drug references, sexual or suggestive lyrics, offensive language, or promotion of violence or crime should be carefully reviewed, edited, aired in clean versions, or scheduled outside of prime time.
